Three identified investment sectors with high potential
While the Lower Nicola Valley and Merritt offer many unique investment opportunities, there are 3 key ones that we are currently focused on at LNIB Dev. Corp.
Agriculture
We are exploring a wide range of agricultural activities for their potential, whether primary or value added. Two example possibilities are growing hops and garlic. Other considerations include food security through the growth of foodstuffs like carrots, tomatoes, peppers and corn.
LNIBDC is interested in agricultural businesses following sound agricultural and environmental best practices.
Renewable/Alternative Energy
- Solar
LNIB is at the forefront of solar having installed 330 photovoltaic solar panels on the roof of the Band’s school gym. It is the largest community owned system in BC. This system helps power the school and feeds electricity back into the local grid. - Wind
With multiple development opportunities, and existing partnerships underway, the Lower Nicola Valley will soon be home to substantial alternative/renewable energy projects. Wind conditions make these projects ideal and help promote the environmental stewardship of LNIBDC.
Alternative energy is a high priority for LNIBDC. We are actively looking for large scale projects within the energy sector.
Tourism & Recreational Land Development
Pristine lakes, towering mountains, rolling foothills, and winding rivers are just a few of the natural features that make Lower Nicola valley a potential hot spot for increased tourism and recreational development. With ample land ripe for fishing, hunting, and other ‘adventure’ focused recreation, opportunities for development are at their peak.
Eco-tourism continues to be a driver for the region and LNIBDC hopes to further promotes environmentally sound recreational development through Joint Ventures.
